CBD vs Hemp

CBD Primer Series (Intro) – Words & Why

CBD Oil is creating quite a buzz!! No, not THAT kind of buzz… and that’s exactly the point.

Welcome to my series – CBD Primer – where I will share my recent research and details about CBD products that are booming onto the market! Do you remember Wordly Wise in school?? Think of this part as a CBD Wordly Wise.

CBD is not new – people using it to heal is not new – but it has lived in the shadows until recently because of outdated and, quite frankly, prejudicial laws. You have no doubt seen all sorts of stores, websites and even the naysayers pop up in recent days and months.

Everyone has an opinion on CBD. Luckily many people are learning more, forming more educated opinions, and therefore typically more in favor of the real thing. Lots (and LOTS) of companies are looking to cash in on this wave, so it’s important to know what to look for and how to understand the differences. There are a lot of shortcuts that can be taken, but you won’t get the same results and will just waste your money. Frankly, that’s bad for business – no one wants to hear that something new didn’t work – and that’s exactly what will happen if you get a bandwagon product.

I have just started my research. Gosh, there is a TON of information out there – I’d love to share with you what I’ve found. Remember, it’s the internet! Anyone can say anything (Anti-vaxx epidemic, anyone??) There are lots of super savvy sales people and loud as heck media horns that really don’t care about the truth. Do your own research and make sure to really understand the writer’s motivation behind what they are sharing.

SO, what’s my motivation???

It’s somewhat tri-fold – I’ll summarize here and then can always chat with you one on one about it, if you have any other questions.

  • My sweet sister has a nasty mean cancer and I hate it.

This is what started my journey – I wanted to find the magic anti-cancer cure.
Most of the cancer killing properties are within the THC component, which unfortunately is currently illegal where I am (see reason #3) – but one day!
Even though I can’t utilize those strains, I found amazing benefits of CBD for myself and our dogs and I wish that everyone would take the time to educate themselves and realize the benefits that are so readily available!! CBD can help!

  • I have found a company that I 100% believe in with results.

CBDBioCare has the highest quality products with product testing to back that claim. They’ve been in the game before the recent wave and have learned a lot of the potential pitfalls to avoid. It has helped me personally with back pain and anxiety, and we’ve made incredible progress with one of the doggos.
I am a sales affiliate and get a small portion of sales back, but this is not an MLM – I will never try to get you to join/pay a membership fee or recruit you to a team.

  • An opportunity to stick it to “the man” and disrupt the wave of deliberate misinformation

Big pharma and Big food/FDA do some good things occasionally, but they’ve gotten greedy, unethical, and too big for their own britches – they care too much about profit and almost zero about keeping the public safe and/or healthy.
They have doubled down on their efforts to criminalize things that the natural world provides to help with big scary issues like AIDS, cancer, diabetes, and drug addiction; they continue to allow our food sources to be poisoned and riddled with forever chemicals; they perpetuate the misuse of potentially deadly drugs (and keep them from the people that need them); and they simply fail at what they were chartered to do.
So, spreading better education about alternatives is my jam.

Oops – a bit of a soapbox there… but it’s important to me for you to know why I care about this so much.

Back to the CBD goodness!!
Now all the words that are thrown around get really super confusing.
Let’s start today with a short vocabulary list – this will help you start to sift through all the data that is being tossed your way. This is not exhaustive, we’ll get there!

Marijuana – comes from the cannabis plant that contains high levels of THC, anywhere from 5-35%. When heated this plant can cause the user to become “high”. CBD on the other hand will never cause this affect. PS – currently illegal in Texas.

Industrial Hemp – used for decades for things like rope, canvas, paper and so much more. This plant grows up to 20 feet tall. This is where hemp seeds and therefore hemp seed oil comes from. It is not medicine. Its seeds are considered a “super food” because it contains omega fatty acids and other valuable nutrients. This oil makes a great carrier oil and helps our bodies absorb these beneficial cannabinoids.

Medicinal Hemp – looks exactly like marijuana and it grows in a bush. The only difference between this plant and marijuana is the THC content. Legally, hemp must contain .3% (point three percent) or less.

Hemp Oil/CBD Oil – Can be derived from hemp seeds, hemp stalks, or the full hemp plant – you want to make sure that the product you are taking is both full spectrum and from the whole plant. That’s why it’s important to get more detail if it is not presented to you at the onset.

Hemp Seed Oil – pressed from the Cannabis Sativa seeds and does not contain any active cannabinoids which includes CBD. There may be trace amounts from plant residue, but CBD is not a product of the seeds. Be aware, there are companies claiming CBD is in their hemp seed oil, which cannot be true if it is derived only from the seeds. Hemp Seed Oil is a fantastic and beneficial carrier oil!

Full Spectrum CBD/Hemp Oil – contains all of the cannabinoids and provides the most medicinal product available. When you have all the cannabinoids present, this creates what is called the entourage effect. Even though THC is removed from a product, results show that full spectrum benefits are still offered.

Whole Plant Extracted – the full plant (not just seeds and stalks) is used in the extraction process, providing the highest level of pure cannabinoids.

CBD Isolate – CBD isolated from the plant and converted into a powder like substance. This isolate is then added to a carrier oil. Sellers will state it is 99% pure. CBD isolate is great as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. However, it does not have all the medicinal benefits of a full spectrum product. Many isolates are coming from overseas (China, etc.) without an oversight, so buyer beware! Always get verified testing results!

Cannabinoid – This is going to take a lot more detail, but it is a class of diverse chemical compounds that acts on cannabinoid receptors (CB1-found primarily in the brain and CB2 – found predominantly in the immune system), also known as the endocannabinoid system in cells that alter neurotransmitter release in the brain

Marijuana Oil/THC Oil/Cannabis Oil – extracted from the marijuana plant that has high levels of THC. While these have many benefits, and will also contain CBD and other cannabinoids, these are illegal in many states currently, so we do not deal with or have additional information on these!

So – Here’s why I will go to bat for CBD BioCare and tell you it is the very best out there!
