Every Day…. (Archive from 11/12/2014)

So I’m “supposed” to write every day. That freaks me out just a little. When all of a sudden I am told I have to do something, it moves out of pleasure and into a bit of an obligation. I’m good with obligations, but then when they scare me for some rational or irrational reason, my inner 12 year old comes out and says, “Nope. Do this other time wasting thing instead.” There I acknowledged her, maybe I can conquer her!!

Why am I supposed to write everyday? I want to improve my writing skills and eventually do something with them – another scary thing, admitting that out loud. What kind of writing? I have no idea – I’m hoping as I do this, it grows that inkling of a feeling that’s been there for a while. You know the one? That little whisper that constantly reminds you. That one that when you try to focus on it too hard, disappears like a wisp of smoke. The one that seems so persistent in your peripheral hearing, but can’t quite grab hold of it to put in the lightening bug jar. Yeah, that one. With a little nurturing, maybe it will gain some substance and let me latch on and ride the wave. So, that means a goal of writing every day.

One thing I love is how when you are connected to so much information, many times the one thing you need to read is right there…. That leads me into this (the first) version of  Saturday’s Link Sync Up. At least part of each Saturday’s post will include a link (or more) to a post or story that I felt worth sharing and why it’s relevant. I’m sure that will evolve over time too – isn’t it supposed to? Some will be from my historical Twitter feed – that’s where I like to share things I want to go back to at some point. Feel free to follow me at @SimpsonRanch

Saturday’s Link Sync Up:

This link is from The Good Men Project – a blog I particularly like – you’ll see a lot of tidbits from them – http://goodmenproject.com/featured-content/dtv-benjamin-franklin/

It’s about the schedule that Ben Franklin used for his days. Getting up at 5am, scheduled time for taking care of his business and planning, working 8 hours and going to bed at 10pm. The author discusses how it made for a pleasant and organized day. A particular item that jumped out was scheduled social media account review….since it’s gotten so out of control in general; knocking that down a bit is going to be a great great thing! One of my biggest goals right now is to be more ‘in the moment’ and aware. I’m pretty good at it most of the time, but when a trigger gets pushed, off I go.

Another link I saw today was 32 ways to Make Someone Happy today – http://zenhabits.net/ways-to-make-someone-happy-today/

Go out and do it – making others happy comes back to us 10 fold!

It’s CFRS – positively.
